The Prop Firm Challenge EA We Built by Testing Thousands and Killing Almost All of Them

PropGauntlet EA is the survivor of an AI research engine that generates and stress-tests thousands of strategy variations against 6+ years of real price data, Monte Carlo drawdown simulation, and FTMO's actual daily-loss rules — before any of it touches a live account.

    Years of price history 6+
Strategies tested 1,000+ candidates generated and screened
    Statistical checks passed 12/12

    The problem

Search for an EA to pass a prop firm challenge and you'll find the same three claims on every page: high win rate, low drawdown, verified results. None of them tell you how those numbers were produced, over what data, or how many other versions of the same idea were tried and quietly discarded before the one on the sales page was chosen.

We've reviewed a lot of these ourselves — see our breakdown of low-drawdown forex robots — and the uncomfortable truth is that some of them really do have a low headline drawdown number and still aren't built to survive a prop firm's actual rules, because headline drawdown isn't what fails a challenge. The daily loss limit is. Almost nothing in the retail EA market is tested against that specific constraint. This is.

    What it is

You don't need four different EAs for four different stages of a prop firm account. You run this one and tell it which stage you're on — Challenge, Verification, a One-Step account, or Funded — and it changes how it trades to match.

Taking the challenge or verification exam

Three independent strategies trade at once, on the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100 and DAX 40, blended and sized to clear an FTMO-style pass as fast as your risk tolerance allows. Pick a preset — Steady, Balanced, or Turbo — and it does the rest.

    On a One-Step account

Some firms skip the two-exam structure and judge you on a single drawdown floor that rises as your account grows. The EA trails that floor automatically, and refuses to even start if your settings would breach a one-step firm's tighter daily limit.

    You passed? Flip one switch.

The EA drops to just its single most rigorously verified strategy, at a fraction of the risk it used to pass with (0.75% instead of 2%). It won't do this for you automatically — the strategy that gets an account funded fast and the strategy that keeps it funded for years are not the same strategy.

And it knows when to stop

Hit the profit target with your firm's minimum trading-day requirement already satisfied, and the EA closes out and stands down — instead of trading through a challenge you already passed and risking it for nothing.

Every strategy is long-only, one position open at a time, a hard stop-loss on every single trade. No grid. No martingale. No hedging tricks to smooth the curve. Most prop firms ban those outright — we don't build them in the first place.

    The AI research engine

Our engine generates thousands of candidate strategies — different entries, sessions, instruments, exit rules — and runs every single one through the same fixed, automated battery of 12 statistical checks. No candidate skips a step. No candidate gets a pass because it "looks good."

The overwhelming majority die in the first two checks, cheaply, before any serious compute is spent. A tiny handful ever reach the locked hold-out data — a slice of history read exactly once, after everything else has already passed — and most of those die there too, because we correct for how many ideas we tried before finding one that worked (a Deflated Sharpe Ratio bar that rises with every candidate we've ever tested). What's left, if anything survives at all, is what we sell.

    1. History depth — minimum 5–8 years of clean price history required, no exceptions
    2. In-sample screen — profitability + minimum profit-factor bar
    3. Out-of-sample split — independent validation, never peeked at during design
    4. Cost stress — must stay profitable at 1.5× and 2× real broker spread/slippage
    5. Walk-forward — 4-of-6 rolling folds independently profitable
    6. Consistency — 70%+ of calendar years profitable, no single year over 40% of total profit
    7. Regime check — edge holds specifically in its claimed market regime
    8. Parameter stress — every parameter stress-tested ±10–20%, must sit on a plateau, not a spike
    9. Monte Carlo — 95th-percentile worst-case drawdown simulated, not guessed
    10. Hold-out read — locked data, read once, cleared against a rising statistical bar
    11. Challenge simulation — thousands of simulated FTMO attempts — daily loss, total loss, profit target, consistency, all at once
    12. Worst-trade check — worst single-trade move checked against the daily limit at every risk level

Soft stops below the firm's hard limits — on purpose

    Daily soft stop

Below the firm's actual daily limit: closes everything and pauses until the next trading day, so a bad day ends before it becomes a breached day.

    Total soft stop

Below the firm's actual total limit: closes everything and halts the EA permanently — no revenge-trading its way through a bad stretch.

    Sizing safety

Refuses to open a trade if the broker's minimum lot size would force more risk than the preset intends.

    72-hour offline grace

If our license server is briefly unreachable, the EA keeps trading on its last good verdict and recovers automatically.

All odds quoted on this page are simulated, per-attempt results, not guarantees. Trading forex and CFDs carries real risk of loss; index markets can go through long stretches where every approach loses money, and a prop-firm attempt can fail whatever settings you choose. Past performance never guarantees future results, and nothing on this page is financial advice.

    Questions, answered

What kind of support do I get?

Email support@offbeatforex.com, or use the site's contact form — either one reaches the same team.

How many accounts can I run this on?

One license key runs on 5 MT5 accounts at once — enough to cycle through a challenge, verification, and a funded account without running out. Need to swap one out for a different account? Do it yourself anytime in My Account; there's a 72-hour cooldown between swaps to stop casual key-sharing, nothing more.

When do I receive the EA?

Instantly. The moment your payment confirms, your license key is generated and emailed to you, and it's always visible in My Account → My Licenses alongside the EA download.

Does it respect a prop firm's daily loss and profit-target rules automatically?

Yes, on both ends. It carries its own soft stops — 3.5% daily / 8% total — set below FTMO's actual 5%/10% limits, so it steps aside before the firm's hard limit, not at it. And once you've hit the profit target with the minimum trading-day requirement already satisfied, it closes out and stops trading on its own, instead of risking a passed challenge for nothing.

What payment methods do you accept?

Crypto only, for now: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, USDT, and USDC.

    What's your refund policy?

All sales are final — no refunds. But you don't have to buy blind to find that out: the exact EA is free to backtest in MT5's Strategy Tester and free to forward-test on a demo account before you ever pay, which is more than most vendors in this space let you verify.

Can I get PropGauntlet EA for free?

For backtesting, yes — the exact EA is free in MT5's Strategy Tester, no account or signup required, on any broker. For live demo forward-testing, it's also free, but only on a demo account at FxPro, AMarkets, or xChief; the license-free demo mode is tied to those three brokers specifically, so a demo at any other broker won't run it (backtesting still works everywhere). Live and funded accounts need a paid license.

What instruments does PropGauntlet EA trade?

Three index CFDs — the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and DAX 40 — each running its own independent strategy at once. Every broker names these symbols differently (US500, SPX500, US_500, and so on), so you enter the exact symbol names for your broker as EA inputs; get one wrong and the EA scans your broker's full symbol list and suggests the closest match on the chart, so you're not guessing blind.

Do you guarantee this EA will pass a prop firm challenge?

No one can, and you should be skeptical of anyone who says otherwise. In trading we deal with probabilities, not certainties. What we can show you is how many attempts, on average, it takes to get funded at each risk setting — Steady, Balanced, or Turbo — see the presets above for the actual numbers.

Can I keep using it after I get funded?

Yes — that's exactly what Funded mode is for. Flip the Mode input once you're funded and the EA drops the two secondary legs, cuts risk down to 0.75%, and trades only the S&P 500 core leg — the one strategy that's actually been verified against locked, never-touched hold-out data. It won't switch automatically; you tell it when you've been funded, because the strategy built to pass a challenge fast and the strategy built to protect a funded account for years are not the same strategy, and running the fast one after you're funded is how accounts get blown right after the hard part is done.

Test it on your own data before you trust it with your own money.
